This video explains freight shipping and how to prepare for shipping freight. When an item is too large or delicate to ship by a standard ground carrier, it requires freight shipping. Any shipment over 150 lbs. is considered freight. Freight shipping is the transportation of goods, commodities and cargo in bulk by ship, aircraft, truck or intermodal via train and road.

It can be transported domestically or internationally by land, air, or sea. The products are packaged more safely and securely than traditional carriers.

The size of a freight truck can range from full size tractor trailers to a small box truck. Residential deliveries need to know if the truck can or cannot fit down the street before attempting to deliver. Freight deliveries will call to schedule a date and time for delivery instead of dropping it off like traditional ground carrier deliveries. They will not leave the delivery there if you are not home.

Make sure to check the outside of the delivery for damage before signing for the delivery. Then once you have received the delivery, check the inside as well. In order to receive a replacement, the company must be informed without two days of the delivery.
