Three Tips for Selling Your Car for the Highest Dollar

Molded carpet

Are you thinking it’s time to trade your old sloppy jaloppy in for a new car? When it’s time to get rid of your old car and buy a new one, you have the option of trading it in.. but we all know you’re going to lose a lot of money on it. Those car lots that buy old cars, no matter what condition they are in, do it for one reason: to make as much money as possible off of you. They aren’t a charity. They aren’t trying to help you out. They’re going to give you as little as possible for your old car and charge you as much as possible for your new car.

The best way to get the most money out of your old trusty dusty is to remove the middle man and sell it privately yourself. We know what you’re thinking, you have literally driven your old boy into the ground. Why would anyone want to give you money for it? Well, you came to the right place. We’re going to give you a few simple tips for making your car as sellable as possible, for the greatest dollar.

Three Tips for Selling Your Car for the Highest Dollar

  1. Bring your car down to the next price bracket.

You might notice that professional car salesmen price their cars just under a round number. They might be selling a car for $10,000, but they’ll list it for $9,950.50 instead. This is a psychological trick to get shoppers to sign the dotted line.

Many car shoppers view car prices in brackets. A car that costs $1,900 is in a far cheaper price bracket than a car that costs $2,000, even if the price difference is only $100. When selling your car, choose a price point that feels good for selling your car, and then deduct $50. Maybe you’ll get only a few interested buyers at the round number you have in your head, but once it gets bumped to the lower price bracket, you’ll have them beating down the door.
  2. Put yourself in the buyer’s eyes.

If you want to sell your car for the most money, you need to think like the buyer who is going to be willing to pay top dollar. What makes your car the most marketable? Is it the nice paint job? The low miles? The cold AC? The brand new car carpets? Whatever it is that makes your car the most marketable, make sure to lead with that. Instead of advertising your car as “1980 Honda Civic That Might or Might Not Start” make the title of your Craigslist ad, “Vintage Honda Civic With Brand New Flooring”. It paints a different picture.

Speaking of pictures, they say a picture is worth a thousand words and this is more than a little true of selling a used car. Be really creative with how you post your pictures, so that it shows your car in its best light. You’re able to post Instagram selfies that takes 10 lbs off you and hides all your flaws… apply the same logic to your car photos. Post pictures that really draws the potential car buyer in.

  3. Install fleece trunk mats (and other little details).

No we aren’t kidding with this. No, fleece trunk mats probably aren’t the singular reason that someone will buy your car. However, when you start looking at the nitty gritty, fleece trunk mats tell potential car buyers that you care about the little details. If a person is looking at your car, and a comparable car for the same price difference, the fact that your car has dumb little details like a fleece trunk mat will give it a one-up and make it a little more desirable.

The opposite is also true. As much as the small details help your cause, overlooking the holes in the upholstery, the worn-out cardboard trunk mat, and the scratch on the door because it doesn’t really impact the way your car drives could be the single reason that you are unable to sell your car.

Why it Pays to Spend at Used Car Dealerships

Used cars for sale

If you’re in the marketing for buying a car, then you may want to consider the benefits of purchasing used cars for sale over brand new ones. Sure, searching for vehicles at used car dealerships may not seem as sexy as buying a new car fresh off the lot, but does that really matter? After all, your bank account will be far better off with the purchase of a used vehicle, and even though they sure are nice, new vehicles depreciate in value rapidly. These are just a few out of many things to consider when it comes to the purchase of a vehicle, whether it’s from a used car dealership or otherwise.

It’s important to create a comfortable budget before even setting foot on the lot of a car dealership. Take some time to review your personal finances and other financial responsibilities before creating a budget to work with. It’s important to leave a little wiggle room and consider not so hidden but often forgotten expenses such as taxes, fees, registration, and more. Once you have a budget that sounds and feels good to you, you’ll have greater confidence and clarity when it’s time to visit the dealership.

Used car dealerships have a lot, if not more, to offer than new car dealerships. Today’s used cars are of high value and quality, and can perform just as well as new cars when properly maintained. Many used car dealerships even have impressive selections of one-owner vehicles, not to mention a variety of cars that have undergone rigorous multi-point inspections and other safety checks. You can drive off the lot in confidence with one these used vehicles without having to completely empty your savings!

It’s important to remember that used cars have a lot to offer, and are comparable to the quality and valued of new cars in a number of ways. The only difference is the lack of a hefty price tag, which will only lead you towards greater financial freedom in the end. Mutually Beneficial- Car Dealerships and the Greater Community

Ames cars for sale

Businesses are run by and for people. Beyond buying and selling, every business should strive to treat their customers and the environment with a minimum amount of respect and care that they deserve. In this way, a new car dealer and new dealerships in general aren’t any different. They are their to serve a specific function in the community and most do it and do it well. But underneath the surface of this transaction-based relationship there are other, more subtle things at work. A new car dealer, much like a used car dealer, has a duty to the community- to keep it safe, to keep it fair and to understand its fabric, no matter where it’s located. Listed are several different layers of that relationship and how they affect the community at large. Each one is different but each one is connected to all the others. It just takes a little bit of effort to see past the obvious and into the intricacies beneath.

    Dealer to dealer
This might seem like a strange one but its the most basic and the basic is the key to understanding all the others. A new car dealer (or a used car dealer) has a fundamental relationship to itself and all of the employees that work there. Some of this is essential business ethic but it bears repeating. After all, employees are members of the community as well. Especially at a new car dealer, it’s important to make sure that all employee concerns are taken into account. Everybody feels safe and agrees on the prices, selling, etc. Disagreements are alright so long as they are valid. Of course, by law there should be discrimination, harassment or belittling. Everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity or orientation, should be treated like family. Once again, this sounds basic but it’s as much a matter of personal ethic as it sound business. Contented, cared-for employees are more productive and more centered people. Customers will respond to that energy with their own positivity. Employees will also take that energy home and spread it naturally in their lives. Business is business but business is also part of life. Be mindful of business and life will inevitably follow.
    Dealership and customer
Of course, this your standard business relationship. But customers are smart and they know when they are being taken advantage of. Car dealerships should taken great pains to let their customers know two things. One that they genuinely care. Two, that they are being fair with prices and safety. A premier dealer (a fair dealer) will let the customer know through actions that they and their money are respected. This not only increases revenue but it also solidifies the trust between the dealer and the community writ-large. Running a business is difficult and there’s a lot that goes into it. This is true. But customers are people just like employees. People with families and friends they want to keep safe. Treat the customer like family and they’ll respond like family. This is just common sense.
    Dealership and Community
A new car dealer has a lot riding on safety. Pun intended. Because they are purveyors of the new a new clear dealer has a duty to make sure that all of their merchandise, however new, is safe and tested. The community will respond to this energy with their own. So long as the standards of safety are met, they will continue to support the business that adheres to them. In this way, the dealership can give back more than just cars to the community. They can give back a sense of safety and trust that wasn’t there before. In this way, a business can be more than just a business. It can become a symbol in the community of ethics, standard and excellence. All it takes is a little care and effort on the part of both the community and the dealership itself. And that’s the most worth-it thing of all. The caring that goes into it.

Protecting Your Vehicle and Yourself From the Elements Understanding the Nature of Road Pollution

Cnc cut

The innovation that is the automobile has changed our lives forever. No longer are we geographically bound to our homes, jobs, or choices for entertainment. American commuters say that their average commute takes around 26 minutes with a median value of 20 minutes; the worst of commutes can take an average of 46 minutes however. With the average American spending around 87 minutes per day in their vehicle, the issue of road pollution and its environmental impact is a pertinent one for our daily lives.

The Nature of Road Pollution

Everything that could leak out of a vehicle has made its way onto the road in some capacity. When picturing oil spills and other auto accidents, it is no surprise to learn that the road is full of contaminates that could pose a serious risk to driver health. In addition to this, the emissions released by automobiles plays a serious detriment to air quality. Experts suggest to avoid following diesel cars or trucks and to use the carpool lane whenever possible as its air is anywhere from 30 to 50% cleaner thanks to the lack of buses and trucks in said lane.

Your Car’s Environment

A survey conducted by The Dohring Co. found that 95% of respondents are concerned about air pollutants within their vehicle. This is for good reason as numerous studies actually give us insight into how dirty our cars actually are. It is stated that the environment inside of your vehicle may be anywhere from two to 10 times more polluted than breezes over the freeway are. A study done by GAP Enviromicrobial Services actually found that the car is consistently dirtier than the home, having up to 17,000 times more bacteria. Another study done by the Anston University in Birmingham found that the truck contains around 850 bacteria — this is typically where many people choose to place their groceries.

Auto Flooring Solutions

The floor of your vehicle is where contaminates and bacteria tend to gather before dispersing themselves throughout the vehicle. Experts suggest getting a replacement carpet installed in your vehicle if your current carpeting is over 10 years old. Auto flooring comes in a variety of styles that can help minimize the collection of contaminants and bacteria; car flooring can be made specifically to fit your vehicle’s make, model, and year. When used in conjunction with floor mats, drivers are able to successfully decrease the potential accumulation of dirt, bacteria, and contaminates from the ground; rubber floor mats are easy to clean as well. As technology advances, so too will the availability of auto flooring solutions with new materials offering an advanced level of protection against bacteria, mold, and dust. Some auto flooring materials are specially treated to be water resistant. Likewise, for those with bed trucks it is recommended that a waterproof bed liner be installed to help protect your vehicle from damage. Find an auto parts dealer near you to determine what auto flooring products are right for your ride.

Spotting Troubles With Your Diesel Injectors

2001 duramax injectors

Diesel engines are a unique type of engine. They have a higher richness of fuel in their mix up. They also are more efficient that traditional forms of fuel. For this reason, they are commonly used in vehicles and machines that require large quantities of fuel. There are different models and makes of diesel engines, just as there are of regular use petroleum vehicles. An important part of owning a diesel engine and using diesel fuel is understanding how to troubleshoot and diagnose a problem with the diesel injector.

Identification of diesel engine troubles
If you are unable to identify a problem with your diesel engine early enough, the problem will not only become larger, but can also completely damage your engine. Take the 2004 Duramax injector engine as an example. The injector is an important method used in fueling diesel gasoline to the engine and its counterparts. If the 2004 Duramax injectors become blocked by a fuel buildup, the engine will eventually run on wrongly proportioned amounts of diesel fuel. Only the portions that make it through the blocked injector will make it into the engine. This negates the entire purpose of using clean diesel fuel.

Reduced efficiency of diesel engine
Probably one of the most common 2004 Duramax problems that you will encounter is a reduced efficiency of the engine. Cars with diesel engines are usually 20 to 40% more efficient than their gasoline counterparts. However, a vehicle with 2004 Duramax problems is likely to carry much less efficiency. Considering the increase in efficiency was probably your cause for purchasing the diesel vehicle, you will not receive the benefits you paid for.

Extended life of diesel fuel
An additional benefit of using diesel fuel is their extended life. The expected life of diesel fuel is 12 months when kept at 68 degrees ambient temperature. The problem, though, is that many vehicle owners do not have the ability to store diesel fuel properly for this length of time. As a result, the diesel fuel quality is reduced and the owner experience an increase in 2004 Duramax problems.

More wear and tear on injectors
Another one of the most common 2004 Duramax diesel issues includes increased wear and tear on the 2005 Duramax injectors. 2005 Duramax diesel problems tend to be very similar to that of the common 2004 Duramax problems, as the engines are built similarly. Diesel engines work in a different manner than traditional engines. Although these engines allow the vehicle to be more energy efficient, it works overtime.

The more modern common raid injectors can double the wear on injectors because they fire two or three times for every engine cycle. You may actually find that you have more problems with your newer versions of injectors, such as the 2005 Duramax injector over the 2004 Duramax injector. Even newer models of the Duramax injectors produce an even higher efficiency rating, but wear through injectors much quicker.

Importance of regular inspections
It can be very beneficial to maintain your diesel fueled vehicle with regular inspections and upgrades. Regular inspections will identify any problems with the injectors or the diesel engine, before they become too large of a problem. This could save you a lot of money and a lot of time on the consistent replacement of fuel injectors. Also, regularly updating fuel injectors as new ones come on the market can continue to increase efficiency and reduce the likeliness of problems.

Although diesel engines provide owner?s with many benefits, they are prone to their own sets of troubles. The 2004 Duramax injector model is known for specific problems, such as increased wear and tear on the injectors. Newer models tend to have these same injector problems, but provide additional benefits. Ensure that you are gaining the most benefit out of your diesel powered engine vehicle by having regular inspections and upgrades.
